Scottish Indexes held its first virtual conference shortly after lockdown began in March 2020, and they have proved very popular. Now its 15th conference takes place in January. Tune in for a programme of talks by experts on Scottish family history, plus your chance to put your own questions to them. Speakers include Audrey Collins and Alison Spring, with the case studies ‘Finding Uncle Geordie’ (on tracing a First World War ancestor) and ‘From the Hebrides to Mississippi: The Crofter’s Son’ respectively; regular WDYTYA? Magazine contributor Chris Paton presenting ‘Discover Scottish Civil Registration Records’; Ashleigh Thompson discussing the collections available in Edinburgh City Archives; and Wiebke McGhee from North Lanarkshire Archives on burgh and local-authority records.
