Stories Of St James’s Burial Ground

Uncover 18th-century burial records

-

PROJECT OVERVIEW

St James’s, an 18th-century burial ground near Euston Station, was excavated by archaeologists from MOLA Headland Infrastructure during HS2’s construction. MOLA is now sponsoring this project to transcribe St James’s burial registers and find out more about the stories of the people who were buried there.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

For each of the 57,639 burial records, volunteers must transcribe the person’s name, the date of burial and the burial ground number.

HOW DO I TAKE PART?

Visit zooniverse.org/projects/mola/stories-of-st-jamess-burial-ground and transcribe the handwriting in the scanned burial records.
