Silt Stream
Lake Magadi, Kenya
In December 2019, we organised a helicopter trip over Lake Magadi. The rains were heavy that year, and as we flew over it was clear that the area was flooded, creating new flows into the lake. The rainwater filtered in streams of light-coloured silt, which against the dark lake water produced a wonderful silky pattern, visible only from the air. With a flock of flamingos flying low across the lake beneath us, our timing was perfect. We were lucky to witness it.
