Kitchen on fire while pair slept
CHALVEY: A fire chief has warned people not to leave their cooking unattended following a blaze.
Firefighters called to a house in Spackmans Way at 3.30pm on Sunday found two people asleep upstairs; they were led to safety and treated for smoke inhalation.
Cooking had been left unattended on the hob; the alarm was raised by a neighbour who saw smoke billowing out of a window.
Station Manager Chris Hutton said: “The clear safety message here is never leave your cooking unattended.”
