Ho ho ho, with big thanks to Joe

SLOUGH: Sacks full of Christmas presents have been donated to Wexham Park Hospital’s children’s ward thanks to the efforts of a Cippenham resident.

Joe Elms, 61, has been running a present appeal to support the hospital for more than 30 years and said this campaign would be his last.

The Royal Mail

worker saw his fundraising efforts hampered this time around following the postponement of his annual raffle due to COVID-19.

But he still managed to collect more than £2,000 worth of goods thanks to donations from Tesco in Taplow and colleagues from the Royal Mail’s distribution centre in Langley.

Joe said: “Working

for the Royal Mail we’ve been going up to Wexham Park for the last six months donating food and drink for the nurses.

“You can see the nurses are drained in there and they’re really under pressure. This year the money hasn’t gone all in toys but at least £1,000 in food and drink for the nurses and doctors at Christmas.”
