Porter steps down from the board at Slough Town

John departs Rebels’ steering group while Adrian Gomm steps up

-

Slough Town have announced media officer Adrian Gomm has been promoted to the board of the club while John Porter has decided to step down from his role as director and member of the steering group.

Gomm is best known to supporters for providing live commentary of Slough Town’s matches via Rebels Radio. He has also lent his voice to tannoy announcements and carried out vital behind-thescenes work at Arbour Park.

Porter has called time on his professional involvement with Slough Town primarily due to time constraints and work commitments meaning he was not able to carry out his role in the way he wished to over the last 18 months.

“It is with great pleasure we announce that Adrian Gomm has been promoted to the board of Slough Town Football Club,” a statement read.

“After nine years of serving the club in a number of different capacities, John Porter has stepped down from his role on the board. John started off as commentator on Rebels Radio and eventually became Chairman.

“Most recently, John was a director and member of the steering group but he felt that due to time constraints and work commitments he was not able to carry out the role in the way he would wish to and the standards required particularly over the last 18 months.

“We would like to thank

John for all his hard work and dedication to the club. John will be missed from the board but he remains a season ticket holder and we will, of course, see him at games.”

On his tenure with the Rebels, Porter added: “It was a privilege and honour to serve the club. I have made lifelong friends and memories. I would like to thank the club’s volunteers for all their help and support, with a special mention to the committees.

“I am proud of what we have achieved. I won’t be a

stranger – as a season ticket holder you will still see me at matches cheering on the Rebels to further success.”

Alongside Adrian Gomm, Matt Webb and Tom Gathern have been asked by the club to become members of the steering committee. The duo manage the Rebels’ communications and presence online. Slough Town hope they will bring ‘an exciting new angle to the steering committee’ and they are ‘pleased to have them on board’.
