Windsor move off the bottom after much improved display in defeat
Windsor were much improved in Saturday's 29-28 away defeat to London Cornish and picked up two points to move off the bottom of the Regional Thames 2 table.
However, this second loss on the road means they and new coach Andy Symons are still searching for their first competitive win of the season.
Symons took over in the summer from Neal Kennedy, with the club having lost their previous coach, Jack Pattinson, because of his increased work commitments at London Irish. Symons said in pre-season he hoped to bring a sense of enjoyment and freedom to Windsor's play, but the campaign got off to a disastrous start after an 87-5 defeat at Hammersmith & Fulham on the opening day of the campaign.
The Royals are also yet to play at Home Park, which won't help much as they ease their way into a new season in a new division.
This Saturday they visit Amersham & Chiltern, who sit seventh in the table with one win and one loss to their name so far. They'll finally step out on home turf on Saturday week (September 24) against London Wild Geese.
Windsor have been replaced at the bottom by Beaconsfield.
■ Slough's trip to Maidenhead 3rds on Saturday was postponed, so the Greenies host league leaders Rams 3rds this weekend looking to register their first win of the new season.
The Greenies kicked off their Counties 2 Tribute Berks/Bucks & Oxon South campaign two weeks ago with a narrow 18-13 home defeat to Hungerford, but they'll have their work cut out against Rams who've so far proved too strong for Maidenhead 3rds (29-15) and Reading 2nds (29-5).
