Commons Sense
Across Beaconsfield, Marlow and the South Bucks villages, it has been fantastic to catch-up with many local people, listening about the issues that matter most to you.
With Parliament now sitting once again, I will be back in Westminster championing your priorities. In this update, I want to talk about my work in the constituency over the Easter holiday period.
Ensuring a safer community is a key priority for me as your local MP.
I am doing work across the constituency with Thames Valley Police, residents, businesses, local councillors, and other community groups to address concerns residents have about particular hotspot areas.
For example, I was pleased to recently host the Burnham Crime & Anti-Social Behaviour Forum alongside local Superintendent Burroughs. We covered a range of topics, and it was incredibly valuable for both me and the police leadership to hear the experiences of local people and your ideas for action. I am also pleased to hear that Matthew Barber, the Police and Crime Commissioner, is building on the record number of over 5000 police officers we have in Thames Valley, recruiting a further 150 officers to be focused on neighbourhood policing.
I also had the pleasure of visiting some brilliant community groups throughout the Easter period, such as The Flackwell Heath Community Pantry. I want to extend my thanks to all the incredible volunteers who dedicate so much of their time to supporting residents throughout the community.
Whilst in Flackwell Heath, I also had the pleasure of visiting Wild Mind Well-Being. The work they do to support so many residents, particularly young people with Special Educational Needs, is truly inspiring. Community groups such as these two, with the many others across our area, are a key reason this is such a wonderful place to live. None of these groups would exist without volunteers who give their time so willingly, and I want to extend my thanks to everyone who contributes to our local community in this way. In Marlow, I was delighted to meet with the team from Dementia Action Marlow once again and join their ‘Let’s Get Moving’ Class. These activities are aimed at improving the well-being of individuals affected by Dementia. Please don't hesitate to contact me at joy.morrissey.mp@parliament.uk or 01494 977 505.
