Miss Galaxy Scotland Emma Bain, 27, travelled to the International Galaxy final in Orlando last month and was delighted with her placing.

The former Coltness High pupil said: “It was the most incredible week of my life.

“I had the honour of competing on the international stage against beautiful girls from all around the world and it was a pleasure to meet everyone of them.

“I am so delighted to say that I placed second runner-up.

“From my reaction, you would think I had won but to me I was already a winner and am super proud of myself to have placed so highly.

“I enjoyed every single part of the week from rehearsals to the pyjama party to the preliminary competition.”

Galaxy is one of the top five pageants in the world, just after Miss World and Miss Universe.

Competing against 16 other women in her category, Emma said it was a nervewracking experience.

The competition consisted of four different rounds interview, a fashion wear round allowing contestants to choose an outfit that represents their personality, bikini and evening gown contests.

Emma added: “To every single person who gave me advice, supported me and sent good-luck messages — thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“You have no idea how much it means to me. Especially those of you who sat up half the night to watch the live stream and leave amazing comments on my videos.

“To my family and, of course, boyfriend Mick, thank you for your unconditional love and support. I really couldn’t have done it without you.”

Miss Galaxy Australia Shikye Smith was crowned winner.
