A warm welcome

Pupils settling in

- Our Lady’s High

A warm welcome back to all of our students. A particular welcome to our new first year pupils and any new pupils joining us for the first time.

Please remember that mobile phones should not be used in school. We would advise that pupils leave mobiles at home.

Remember school days start at 8.55am, interval always after period 2 and lunch always 12.30pm. Long days Monday, Tuesday and Thursday – finish at 3.45pm and short days Wednesday and Friday – finish at 2.55pm. Every period lasts 50 minutes.

Congratulations to all pupils who performed exceptionally well in the National Qualifications from National 4 to Advanced Higher.

This year pupils studied seven subjects in fourth year for the first time. Eleven of our students achieved straight As in all subjects undertaken at National 5 Level. See photograph – Rhodri Bevan, Damian Bonnar, Molly Cuthbert, Emma Dolan, Hannah Duddy, Piroska Horvath, Kelsey Kearney, Dearbhla McCabe, Marta Pradzynska, Patrick Quinn and Rebecaa McQuaid. Quite an achievement and perhaps even more so for Marta and Piroska when English is their second language.

Three of all students achieved straight As in their 5 Highers: Liam McCafferty, Michael McKenna and Philip Quither. Congratulations too must go to Beth Cunningham who has left the school achieving Eight As at National 5, Five As at Higher and Three A Band Advanced Highers. Beth is going on to study Dentistry.

This is just a small sample of the excellent attainment this year; 49% of our Fourth Year achieved at least Five National 5 Awards, 44% (based on S4 roll) achieved at least Three Highers in Fifth Year, 72% (based on S4 roll) achieved at least One Higher, 18.4% achieved Five Highers in Fifth Year. These are our best Fifth Year results ever and we are very proud of our students.

Congratulations to Adam Boyle in sixth Year.

Adam won the Scottish Javelin championships at Grangemouth at the weekend with a new personal best of 61.36 metres, his first time over 60m. He has been selected to represent Our Lady’s High and the Scottish school in the U. K School Games in September at Loughborough University.
