Search for great Scots

A Wishaw opticians were this week encouraging people to nominate their community hero in the annual Sunday Mail Great Scot Awards.

Now in its second year of sponsorship, Specsavers Wishaw are supporting the prestigious awards, dubbed the People’s Oscars, which honour the incredible achievements of ordinary people across Scotland who are doing extraordinary things.

The optician is the overall associate sponsor of The Great Scot Awards, as well as the sponsor of the community champions category.

This category recognises individuals or groups who have shown incredible commitment to improving the lives of people in their local area.

Wishaw store director Erin Riddell said:“Supporting the local community is at the heart of what we do here, from caring for the sight of people in the town to supporting local causes through fundraising. We are incredibly proud to be involved in the Great Scot Awards again in 2016.

‘We’re thoroughly looking forward to finding some true Great Scots from right here in Wishaw.’
