Dalziel get kitted out for new year

Dalziel Boys Club are all kitted out for the new season thanks to UK Steel Enterprise.
The Motherwell club have teamed up with UKSE who have supported Scotland’s next generation of football stars by donating £722 to be used towards the team’s new kit.
UKSE is a Tata Steel subsidiary set up to assist the economic regeneration in traditional steel producing areas.
The community grant means that each member of the squad, made up of 11 -12-year-olds from across Motherwell, will get a new shirt, shorts and a pair of socks, ensuring that they are well on their way to becoming the best-dressed team in Lanarkshire.
With more than 160 players, Dalziel Boys Club has a total of seven football teams for youngsters aged between 11 and 18 years old who play in the Lanarkshire Football Development Association League.
The club gives young kids a chance to compete against both local and national opponents helping them develop the skills they need to become sporting superstars.
Team coach, David Irvine praised the support as running football clubs can be an expensive business.
He said: “From buying training equipment to hiring park space and paying the referees, the running costs of the club remain high.
“We could not be more grateful to UKSE for their support.
“Through their generous donation, the boys can continue to get out on the pitch every week and play the game they love.
“The whole team is very excited to try on their new strips and I am sure the other teams will be envious of our fresh new look.”
The club were presented with their new kits at the club last week by Jackie Taylor from the UK Steel Enterprise.

She added: “It is great to be able to offer support to a team that has been providing a great platform for local boys to play football for a number of years.
“With opportunities to compete at both local and national levels, we may very well see some of these Motherwell youngsters playing professional football in the future.
“Perhaps one day even some of the kids can make it to the Premier League.”
