Dalziel High
Netball Success Both the S1 and S3/4 Dalziel Netball teams recently played their opening games of the season against Caldervale High School.
The S1 team kicked things off starting their game steadily and playing consistently throughout the quarters to secure a solid 6-0 win.
Credit goes to Mia MacDonald the star goal shooter and Darcy Jardin who played very strongly as goal keeper and helped keep a clean sheet for Dalziel.
Next up was the more experienced S3/4 team who started off their game with great determination finishing the first quarter 4-0 up.
Goal scoring duo Georgia Vaughan and Rebecca Hartlebury kept this up scoring a further 16 goals throughout the remaining three quarters and securing a comfortable 18-3 victory.
However this was only possible with the high performance and commitment of the rest of the team who worked hard to keep possession of the ball, deny shooting opportunities for the
opposition and consistently feed the ball into our shooting circle.
Well done to all girls involved, a superb start! Higher Geography Field Trips Higher Geography classes have taken trips into Glasgow City Centre this week as part of the preparation for their assignments.
They have carried out fieldwork such as traffic counts, environmental surveys, fieldsketches and photographs to learn more about how the city changes as you move from Motherwell through the inner city to the city centre. European Day of Languages Well done to the pupils of S2 who hosted an excellent event for the European Day of Languages this week.
The European Day of Languages is celebrated every year on September 26, and in preparation for this, a small groups of S2 entertained the rest of their year group as well as S1 with a European Festival on Tuesday.
Groups from each class created and brought to life stalls on many aspects of European Culture including food, music and festivals.
Each stall was an interactive experience with activities such as QR code quizzes, guess the language, green screen photo booth and tastings of Spanish and French foods.
Pupils also had the opportunity to speak to two Language Ambassadors, Fraser and Erin, from Strathclyde University who have just returned from a year of study abroad.
Natalie a representative from Scottish Power also came along to the event to inform pupils of the importance of languages in the Science and Technology industry as Scottish Power are owned by the Spanish company, Iberdrola.
Pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned lots of information about our neighbouring countries in Europe. Choral Shield 2016 DVD The 2016 Choral Shield DVD is available now from the DHT Office - price £15.
