History Trip

Clyde Valley High’s S4 History pupils along with Mrs Ashton, Mrs Mackenzie and Miss McGhee visited Summerlee Museum and took part in a First World War workshop.

The 36-strong group saw footage from a British Battle of the Somme documentary and propaganda film, depicting the experience of the soldiers in this significant battle.

The pupils also took part in an interactive trench tour in a recreated trench. Pupils learned about living conditions in the trenches and got to try on soldiers’kit and handle artefacts.

The group also enjoyed a seminar regarding how women contributed to the war effort and were given the opportunity to try on typical uniforms worn by women at the time. Humanities Award
