Youth trashes four cars in late night incidents

Furious motorists have been left counting the cost after a vandal trashed at least four vehicles in a late-night attack.

The hooligan, who is believed to be have been captured on CCTV, targeted the vehicles in Dyfrig Street last Friday about 11.35pm.

A red Kia had its front window smashed during the wrecking spree.

Other damage included wheeltrims to a yellow Honda and vehicle’s car wing mirror ripped off long with a rear window wipper and a motor cycle vandalised.

Councillor Tommy Cochrane posted the incident on Facebook.

He wrote: “I am getting reports of at least four vehicles damaged in Dyfrig Street at around 11.35pm last night.

“The individual concerned seems to have been walking alone, he looks like a young male, late teens, early 20s.

“Damage that I know of is a car wing mirror ripped off, a rear window wiper ripped off, a car windscreen smashed and a motorcycle damaged.

“All the damage occurred in the even numbers side of the street (school side).”

Several residents who had their cars damaged in the wrecking spree have reported the incident to police.

A police spokesman said this week that they are investigat­ing the incident.

In a separate fire incident in the town, residents were shocked to spot a police The registry service for people in Shotts has come under fire.

People complained they couldn’t get an appointmen­t at the town’s First Stop Shop to register a birth or death and were asked to go the register service in Motherwell. Shotts Community Council took up concerns with the council who insist the service will be available in Shotts.

Janice Connelly, secretary of the community council, said:“Anyone who needs the registry service can make an appointmen­t in Shotts.” car on fire outside Shotts Police Office last Monday evening.

A police spokesman said that the blaze was due to an electrical fault.

Service available Athletics club to start up in Shotts

A new athletics club for young people has started in Shotts.

The Shotts Section of Law and Distric AAC wll start in Calderhead High School on Monday, October 24.

Coaching in athletics for primary school age children will be from 6.30-7.30pm and secondary school age children and adults will be from 7.30-8.30pm.

Come along, join the fun and it is a good way to get fit.
