- Our Lady’s High

Thanks to everyone who contributed to yet another SCIAF fundraiser just before the Christmas break.

The school were delighted to be able to send a cheque off to SCIAF for their Syria appeal as £1000 was raised in one day.

Toy Giveaway: Mrs Sinclair and everyone in Our Lady’s High School were privileged to be involved in the Toy Giveaway, organised by Martine Nolan before Christmas at the Forgewood Community Centre.

Mrs Sinclair was delighted to receive a message from Ms Nolan recognising the work of the school in the Scottish Parliament.

Supported Study: After a relaxing break, most supported study and after schools clubs resume at their usual times this week.

This includes the BSL class, which will resume on Thursday, January 19.

Pupils and parents should check the daily bulletin, school website and blog for further details.

Prelims: S5/6 prelims begin on Monday, January 23, and finish on Monday, January 30.

Pupils were issued with prelim timetables before the Christmas holidays, however, these are also now available for parents to view on the school’s website.

Pupils are not permitted study leave during prelims. During the prelim exams pupils will be marked present on the day of their exam.

If pupils do not have an exam on a particular day and do not attend school they will be marked absent.

Throughout this week class teachers will be available as normal to offer their support with revision.

Debating tournament: The school’s senior debaters Grant Mackin and Christopher Wilson, have a busy few weeks ahead of them!

Having secured wins in the first round, the boys are now representing the school in the second round of two prestigious competitions: the Donald Dewar Debating Tournament on Tuesday, January 31, and the ESU Mace competition on Monday, February 6.

The boys are speaking in opposition on both occasions, against teams from Uddingston Grammar School.

Sad news: Staff and pupils were very sad to hear of the death of retired janitor Phil Reilly. Phil was very well liked by the whole school community, shown by number of teachers, janitors, office, cleaning and kitchen staff, as well as pupils and former pupils, who attended his Funeral Mass which was held in the Cathedral last week.
