Any news items for inclusion in the Shotts news section should be emailed to dinsdey@hotmail.co.uk or can be phoned in to 01501 825294 on a Sunday evening before 9pm. 3rd Shotts Scout group The new hall at 100 Benhar Road, Shotts was officially opened on January 4, which was the fourth anniversar­y of the previous hall destroyed in an arson attack. The new hall was funded mainly by a Lottery grant, with the shortfall made up from Scout funds. The hall is now available for any organisati­on in the community to use and requests to do so should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (Scout leader) on 01501 821658. Mary will be at the hall this Friday, January 20, from 6pm to 8pm and on Saturday, January 21, from 2pm to 4pm for anyone who would like to view the hall. Beavers (ages five to eight years) meet on Tuesdays, from 7pm to 8.15pm. Contact Margaret Galloway (Keeo) on 01501 823715. Cubs (ages eight to 10 years) meet on Wednesdays, from 7pm to 8pm. Shotts and District Rotary Club will reconvene tonight (Wednesday, January 18). EU Congregati­onal Church There will be an open church today (Wednesday), from 11am to 1pm when the minister will be present. Come along for quiet contemplat­ion and prayer. There is an elders meeting on Wednesday night at 7pm. The Sunday morning service is at 11.30am with the evening meeting at 6.30pm. Singing group is on Tuesday nights at 7pm. Bon Accord Club The club are taking new bookings, so get in touch if you’d like to hold an event there. The function hall is available to hire for events. For more informatio­n, contact the club on 01501 821542. Salvation Army Corps The friendship club meets on Tuesdays, from 1pm to 3pm. The youth club is on Wednesdays, from 6pm to 7pm followed by band practice. The toddlers group meets on Thursday mornings, from 9.30am to 11.30am. Prayer meeting and bible study is on Thursday evenings from 7pm. The Friday Club meets each Friday evening, from 5.45pm to 6.45pm and the JAM Club is from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting is at 10.45am led by Major Steven Turner. Everyone is welcome. 32 Social Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends is as follows; the RBP annual sportsmans dinner on Friday, January 20, is now sold out. Bingo is held in the lounge on Mondays at 8.30pm. Lodge St John 471 The regular meeting will be held in the Orange Hall, Shotts on Friday, January 27 at 7.30pm. The business of the evening will be an FC degree conferred by the IPM and office bearers. Community council meet on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm.
