The high Costa modern football

-

In a week where an English football stalwart died, it’s a shame to see how mad the game has became.

The sad news of Graham Taylor’s passing brought out all of the England greats, past and present and they praised him for his manmanagement skills and unrivalled passion for football.

The timing of his death makes the idiotic actions of Dmitri Payet and Diego Costa even more disgraceful.

From an England manager held in the highest regard to two prima donna footballers who have downed tools.

It’s embarrassing and the worst thing is very few people are treating it as such.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has reportedly had his head turned by a £500,000 a week offer from a team in China.

Understandably it has been turned, my head would be spinning like an owl’s if I heard of such an offer.

I have no problem with the player accepting the offer as well.

If a business or organisation is stupid enough to pay an individual such an obscene amount of money then fair play if you can pocket a hefty paycheck.

But the main problem for me is that Costa has refused to train since hearing about the move.

If I’m looking to buy a player who goes on to act so unprofessional I think I’d take my ludicrous offer off the table.

Elsewhere in London, West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is having a tough time of it with star man Dmitri Payet.

Payet is refusing to play for the club anymore and wants a move out.

Bilic and the West Ham board flat out refuse to sell the Frenchman.

So the whole situation is at a stalemate. But it shouldn’t be. For both players I would turn around and tell them to get their backsides on the pitch.

They are in a breach of contract and the worst thing is the players believe they hold all the power.

And the money men have let this happen over the years.

Costa and Payet are just two of many footballers to throw the toys out of the pram and get what they want in the end.

Even Hammers boss Slaven Bilic had a similar incident in his playing days when he refused to play
