Dalziel dumped by high-scoring Accies Glasgow title-chasers are just too strong

The opening 30 minutes at New Anniesland were close, with Stewart Gray converting two penalties for Accies and Dalziel hitting back through Andrew Glover.
But the last 10 minutes of the opening 40 brought on an Accies onslaught as they looked to increase their 6-3 lead.
Some slick passing saw Kris Mathie score a well-earned try and Gray stepped up with his third successful kick of the afternoon to make it 13-3.
From a scrum, Accies’ Ryan Sweeney picked the ball up and passed to Chris Jubb who offloaded to Ross Cowan to race over the line.
But the punishment wasn’t over for Dalziel as just before half- time, Jubb touched down for the third try to give the hosts a 27-3 lead at the break.
Dalziel came out all guns blazing in the second period and Gary Thornton raced in from 20 metres out to reduce the deficit to 19 points.
But Graham Robertson hit straight back for Accies as he bundled the ball over to make it 32-8.
The game had became a scrappy affair but Dalziel still managed to find the scoreboard again as Nathan Emery ran in for a simple try and Glover made no mistake with the conversion.
But two tries from Ross Cowan, a Sweeney score and Chris Rhodes popping over three conversions condemned Dalziel to a 52-15 defeat.
Dalziel’s second XV were also at New Anniesland to face Accies and came away with a 40-31 victory.
After first- half tries from Chris Raeside, Andy Scott and Marcin Majewski had taken the score to 1919, Dalziel went ahead with scores from Cammy King and Stevie Rowe.
A try from club president Les Barclay sealed the win.
Andy Scott and Andy McLaren both slotted over first- half conversions, while Davie Stewart converted all three second-half tries.
Next week the first XV host St Boswells, while the Second XV host Hillhead/Jordanhill. The third XV play Cumnock’s second string.
