Houldswort­h Bowling Club Ladies’ section are holding a bing night in the club on Sunday, March 5, at 7.30pm. Admission and tea costs £1 and there will be lots of prizes on offer. All welcome. Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church Morning worship in the church this Sunday will be led by Derek Hughes, who will again speak on the supportive words from Paul’s Letter to the Philippian­s. The service is available live on the church website (dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk) and for catch-up afterwards on You Tube. Each service also includes British Sign Language signing and electronic notetaking to assist the deaf or hard of hearing. The men’s club president, Douglas Graham, will choose the topic for their meeting on Monday evening with the session concluding the following week with their AGM. The sisterhood, on Wednesday afternoon welcomes Ian Douglas who will show a film. This year’s World Day of Prayer service takes place on Friday afternoon at 1.45pm with the host venue being Motherwell South Parish Church in Gavin Street. The theme this year is ‘Am I being unfair to you’ and has been developed by a group of ladies from the Philippine­s. The officers and girls of 3rd Motherwell Girls’ Brigade Company are collecting items for Basics for Babies, which is run in conjunctio­n with the local food bank. A collection box for any donations is located at the front door of the church. The company received a very special recognitio­n from Erskine in relation to the £15,000 support funding they have raised in recent years for the home. With this being the centenary of the home the Brigade company was chosen as one of 100 recipients to receive a special medal to Captain Liz Bogle and a commemorat­ive plaque. Lanarkshir­e Family History Society March meeting will be their annual mini family history gair. Among those attending will be Shotts Heritage Group, West Lothian Family History Society and Culture NL (North Lanarkshir­e) Archives and Local Studies. Lanarkshir­e FHS’s own team of family history, military and Irish specialist­s will also be there, and the bookstall will have all the Society’s latest publicatio­ns, including WW1 material, memorial inscriptio­ns, parish register transcript­ions, local censuses and local and school histories. Help and advice on research problems will be freely available. This is an excellent opportunit­y for anyone starting out on their family history, who have hit a ‘brick wall’ in their family tree, or want to take their research in a new direction. The family history fair takes place at 7pm on Thursday, March 9 in the GLO Centre, Muir Street, Motherwell – all welcome. South Wishaw Parish Church All Wednesday activities continue in the church this week with prayer group and life group at 10am and 11am respective­ly. Midweek service at 12 noon will be followed by lunch. Wednesday Welcome starts at 1.30pm and Sharing Circle meets on Thursday at 1.30pm. World Day of Prayer service on Friday, March 3, at 2pm will be held in Cambusneth­an Old Parish Church. Saturday cafeteria held between 10am and 1pm will see Team C on duty this week. Sunday communion services at 11am and 3pm will incorporat­e the ordination of new elders. Kirk session meets at 10.30am and Kingdom Kids meet in the hall at 10.50am, and the Guild meeting on Monday is at 7.30pm.
