Here’s Tae Us is a documentary showcase, a story of Shotts, past and present. It will be held in the Henderson Theatre at the Community Centre, Kirk Road, on Wednesday, March 22, 6.30pm for a 7.15pm start. Entry is free when buying a raffle or refreshment ticket, priced £2. Come along to reminisce about days gone by. There will be a tombola, home baking, live music, make up artistry, and kids arts and crafts. Gala day The next fundraiser will be a fashion show in the Station Hotel this Sunday, March 5, at 2pm. Tickets, priced £5, can be reserved by contacting any committee member. 3rd Shotts Scout group The new hall at 100 Benhar Road, Shotts was officially opened on January 4, which was the fourth anniversary of the previous hall being destroyed in an arson attack. The new hall was funded mainly by a Lottery grant, with the shortfall made up from Scout funds. The hall is now available for any organisation in the community to use and requests to do so should be made to Mrs Mary Lees (Group Scout leader) on 01501 821658. Beavers (ages five to eight years) meet on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8.15pm. Contact Margaret Galloway (Keeo) on 01501 823715. Cubs (ages eight to 10) meet on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8pm. Shotts and District Rotary Club The club will welcome visitor Jim West of Currie Balerno Rotary Club at the meeting tonight (Wednesday, March 1). His presentation will be on the Rotary International District 1020 autumn conference being held in Newcastle Civic Centre from October 27-29. Meetings are held in the Station Hotel every Wednesday evening. EU Congregational Church There will be an open church today (Wednesday), from 11am to 1pm when the minister will be present. Come along and bring a friend for quiet contemplation and prayer. There will also be a short service held in the church from 11.30am to 12 noon. There is a fundraising meeting on Thursday at 10.30am. The service on Sunday morning is at 11.30am and singing group meets on Tuesday nights at 7pm. Salvation Army Corps The friendship club meets on Tuesday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm. The youth club is on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm. The toddlers group meets on Thursday mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am. The Friday Club meets every Friday evenings at 5.45pm followed by the JAM Club at 6.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting at 10.45am will be led this week by Lieutenant Colonel Carol Bailey. Everyone is welcome. The Silvertree In-gathering this Saturday, March 4, starts at 7pm. Bon Accord Club The club are taking new bookings, so please get in touch if you’d like to hold an event there. The function hall is available to hire for events.
