Camera Club Members of Carluke Camera Club felt proud and delighted when Hunter Kennedy announced the results of the Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF) club print championship 2017 awards at the meeting on Friday, where the Carluke club had been awarded best overall club in Scotland as well as best club in the monochrome section. Thereafter, the judging of this season’s second digital championship competition took place, which was expertly and sympathetically carried out by Ken Lindsay, from Eastwood Photographic Society. He judged fairly and gave some very welcome advice and guidance. The winner of league one was Hunter Kennedy with Low Light Rannoch, followed in second place by David Owen with a lovely portrait called Natalie and with a striking mountaineering image entitled Free Climbing Roscoe’s Wall from Chris Bonnington in third place. All three places in league two were taken by John Harrington with a variety of fine landscape and seascape images. This Friday’s evening promises to be fun with audience participation and judging in It’s a Knockout when over 120 members’ digital images will be displayed in pairs and successively eliminated, eventually leaving a final winner. As usual, the meeting will be held in St Andrew’s Church hall at 7.30pm and new members and visitors are welcome. Further details of the club’s activities can be found on its website at www.carluke-cc.org. Week-day service The week-day service held in St John’s Church on Thursday of last week was attended by a few regular stalwart members of the congregation at this popular service, despite the snow which kept many of the weekly members indoors. This was followed by tea, coffee and cake served in the church hall afterwards before everyone weathered the storm and began their journey home.
