Motherwell’s David Quigley is Scotland’s top- ranked footgolfer.

The 31- year- old shot to the number one spot in the sport after winning a tournament at Roodlea in Ayr.

Footgolf requires players to kick a football round a converted golf course in the least amount of shots possible.

The sport is growing in Britain with the first ever Champions League Final held earlier in the year.

Mu i rhouse man Dav i d , nicknamed Quigs, was thrilled after his latest success.

The tournament was the third in the 2017 Tartan Super Series – Scotland’s official footgolf tour.

The success ran in the family as David’s cousin Joe McCourt, from Hamilton, finished runner-up.

David, who shot a 64 finishing eight under par, said: “I’m over the moon to have won my first Scottish tour event and secure my place in the UK Grand Final.

“It was a great fight on the day with fellow players Martyn Little and David Craig and Thomas McMahon.

“And well done to my cousin, Joe McCourt, finishing second.

“My great sponsors – 30 Minute Tan and Bryan Buckley Photography – have played a big part in this victory as I have been able to develop my game by playing in more UK tournaments.”

David has also played in tournaments across nine countries, including Portugal, France and Turkey.

However, the Well man is looking for more sponsors to enable him to play in the European Foot Golf tour, and can be contacted on Facebook or Twitter @17quigs.
