Summer camps pay off for club

Motherwell and Wishaw Swimming Club have returned to competitiv­e action after two summer training camps.

Lucky youngsters visited St Loeonard’s School in St Andrew’s with a select few also heading over to Calella in Spain.

This proved to be beneficial for the kids with some great results at multiple tournament­s.

At the Dundedin Challenge Meet in Bathgate, the following youngsters won medals: Luke Doyle – gold 50m back, gold 100m back, gold 200m back, gold 50m fly, gold 100m fly, gold 200 fly. bronze 50m breast, bronze 100m breast, silver 100m IM, silver 200m IM, also awarded best boy in the competitio­n.

Eve Grierson – bronze 100m individual medley (IM), bronze 100m back.

Heather Flaherty – bronze 200m fly.

Kirsty Mitchell – gold 200m fly, silver 100m fly.

Ewan Mitchell – silver 200m free, bronze 100m fly.

Aiden Donnelly – bronze 50m back, bronze 200m free.

Results from the North Ayrshire Distance Meet in Irvine.

Milly Donnachie – silver 200m fly, silver 200m free, bronze 200m breast. Holly Welsh – gold 200m fly. Carla Brawley – gold 200m free. The club also had success at the Special Olympics GB National Games held in Sheffield as Logan Smith picked up two golds and two silver medals.

Kyle Hughes also won silver in the 50m free at the 2017 Schools Games held in Loughborou­gh.
