Bins collection change sparks strong opinions
Richard Weir Iain Cuthbertson Anne McKnight Sarah Greenshields Readers split on council’s new changes
It’s a disgrace It’s a joke No problems Important to recycle
Changes to North Lanarkshire’s bin collections have certainly caused a stir.
We took to the streets of Wishaw to find out what residents felt about the new changes which have came into force over the past few weeks and there was a mixed response from our readers.
Richard Weir was very unhappy about the new changes.
He said: “My bins should have been collected and they are still outside my house.
“It’s a total shambles. I have been trying to get through to the switchboard but haven’t been able to. “It’s a disgrace.” However, Anne McKnight, who lives in Coltness, is pleased with the new bin system.
She said: “I think it is important that we recycle as much as possible.
“I enjoy doing it and I haven’t had any problems.”
It’s fair to say that Wishaw man Iain Cuthbertson was less enthusiastic.
“I would love to meet the person who came up with this system,” said Iain.
“There are so many flaws in this it is unreal. Honestly it’s a joke!”
Sarah Greenshields believes it’s important for householders to keep recycling.
She added: “Sometimes it can be a pain in the neck because there are so many different bins you have to use.
“But I think it is important to recycle so I don’t mind doing it.”
