Robinson is ready for ‘tough’ Hearts

Stevie Robinson says he’s expecting a tough game against “well organised” Hearts this weekend.

The Motherwell gaffer admitted it will be good to have a change of scenery after three games on the bounce against Celtic.

The Steelmen travel to the capital this Saturday to face Craig Levein’s side at Tynecastle and Robinson is hoping for a positive result.

The Jambos are currently on a six game winless run in the Scottish Premiership with boss Levein under pressure to secure results sooner rather than later.

And with Motherwell already six points ahead of their Gorgie rivals, Saturday’s game could put clear daylight between Robinson’s men and the chasing pack as teams look to secure a top six spot.

He said: “Playing a top side (Celtic) three times in six days was always going to be difficult.

“So it will be good to get back to what we are good at this weekend. It will be a tough game at Tynecastle and a big crowd especially with the new stand.

“Craig will have them very well organised.”

Motherwell’s squad has been tested to the limit over the past week and Saturday’s capitulation at Parkhead could be put down to fatigue after two gruelling previous meetings with the champions.

Robinson added: “Three games in six days would take its toll on any squad – but especially our team given how much we put into games.”

Elliot Frear bagged a goal at Parkhead after coming off the bench in the crunch match.

The winger signed from Forest Green Rovers in the summer but has struggled to make a proper impact.

Robinson said: “Elliot’s had to wait for his chance a bit this year after having a few niggling injuries after he joined the club.

“So it was good that he managed to score when he came on and had a decent second half.”

One player linked with a January switch is Louis Moult, with Rangers constantly linked with a move for the striker.

And Robinson admits the club may have to consider offers for the striker when the window opens with him out of contract in the summer.

He said: “I’ve said that if an offer comes in for Louis Moult in January that meets our valuation then we will have to look at it.

“We just need to make sure that anything that happens in January is right for all parties.”
