Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church Morning worship this Sunday will include the baptism of baby Zak. All are welcome to come along and welcome Zak into the church family. The service incorporat­es British Sign Language signing and electronic note taking to assist those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The service is available live on the church website (dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk) and is also accessible later on You Tube. The joint Songs of Praise, postponed in January as a result of bad weather, and organised by the Lanarkshir­e Society of Organists, will take place at the church on Sunday evening at 6.30pm). The service is open to all and marks the start of the Week of Prayer for Christian unity. A collection will be taken with the offering donated to St Andrew’s Hospice. An enquirers group, for anyone interested in joining the church, will begin on Sunday evening. If you would like to join in, with no commitment to proceed to membership, please speak to the minister. The men’s club’s Scots Night on Monday evening at 7pm will include a traditiona­l meal and musical entertainm­ent provided by the Easter Egg group. Tickets cost £6, and are available from men’s club members with only room for a few more to attend. The guild, on Tuesday evening will hear all about the MacBrayne Experience from Ian McCrorie with the sisterhood, on Wednesday afternoon welcoming Ewan Donaldson with his talk on the Botanic Gardens. Monday evening’s and Wednesday afternoon’s prayer groups meet at 7.30pm and 1pm respective­ly. Holey Soles Rambling Club’s next walk will be on Sunday, from Strathyre to Callander. Motherwell Photograph­ic Society Members welcomed Ross Eaglesham, of Eastwood Photograph­ic Society to their recent meeting, who gave a presentati­on on sports photograph­y. Ross is a teacher and also works for an agency as a sports photograph­er. He has covered many of the country’s top events including the 2014 Commonweal­th Games, the Ryder Cup and the 2015 Rugby World Cup to name but a few. During his presentati­on he showed the company many of the photograph­s taken during these events, and explained how he had taken and edited them. He also explained his methods and settings used in taking the images, as well as the editing and tagging processes used before sending them to his editor. Ross was given a warm round of applause and thanks by the grateful members of the society for providing a very interestin­g evening. This week’s meeting on Thursday will be the third and final projected image competitio­n, when the judge for the evening will be Mary Gibson, from Carluke Camera Club. The next beginners’ night will be held this Friday, with the subject still to be confirmed. The MPS meets on Thursday evenings, at 7.30pm, in Holytown Community Centre in Stevenston Street, Holytown. Anyone with an interest in photograph­y, no matter what their level, is welcome to attend these meetings.
