Tough place to come

-

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke hailed his side’s resilience for holding off Motherwell’s onslaught as they sought an equaliser.

The visitors had been in fine form but Clarke said he knew his team were in for a tough match at Fir Park.

He said:“It’s a good result. First half we probably shaded it, I thought we were decent first half, one or two good opportunities.

“Motherwell were stronger second half, we looked a bit jaded second half especially towards the end. We couldn’t get out but we dug in and showed great resilience. The teams in a really good moment and they’re working for every point they get.

“I’m pleased to get three points from here because it’s a really tough place to come.”

Clarke revealed he switched to three centre-backs for the game because he was anticipating an aerial battle.

He was pleased with how his defence stood up to the task.

He said:“One of the reasons we went with three centre-backs today was because we knew we’d have do deal with a lot of crosses and they stepped up to the plate.

“Motherwell will probably feel a little bit aggrieved they haven’t got something out of that game but everything seems to be going our way at the moment. So while it’s going your way you just have to ride the crest of that wave and just keep going.”
