Easter roads closure headache for drivers

Resurfacing work means busy carriageways will shut

- Ian Bunting

Motorists are set to face disruption ahead of the Easter weekend due to major roadworks on one of Lanarkshire’s busiest roads.

A section of the A71 Horsley Brae near Overtown – which connects North and South Lanarkshire – is closed until 11.59pm on Friday for carriageway resurfacing work.

Roads bosses say that in order to carry out the works safely, Horsley Brae from its junction of B7011, Brownlee Road to Garrion Bridge is shut by means of a temporary road closure notice.

However, no works will be carried out between Brownlee Road and Garrion Bridges Garden and Antique Centre.

Officials say that it should be noted that the circulatory carriageway including Garrion Bridges will remain open.

Access and egress to Garrion Bridges Garden and Antique Centre is available at all times during the works from-and-to the north.

However, access and egress to properties south of this access within the works area is restricted due to the nature of the operation and the operatives carrying out the works.

Motorists are advised to drive safely and follow any int e r n a l traffic management or instructions given by the contractor’s Traffic Management Operatives.

Var ious diversions are in place surrounding the roadworks.
