Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church Reverend Derek Hughes took the opportunity last week to thank all who had contributed generously with chocolate Easter Eggs at the Palm Sunday service. These were all donated to Glasgow City Mission, where they were very much appreciated and will help bring much needed cheer. On Good Friday from 12 noon until 3pm the sanctuary and prayer room at the church will be open to all who wish to drop in for a quiet time of reflection and prayer. On Easter Day, April 1 there will be two services of worship at the church. Firstly, at 9.30am when the service will include the celebration of the Sacrament of Communion. Tea, coffee and toast will be available in the hall after this service and before the all age worship time which starts at 11am. This is an extra special occasion as the service will include the admission of new communicants. All are invited to come along and welcome these new members into the church family. The service will be available live online at the church website (dalzielstandrews. org.uk) and also for catch up on YouTube. British Sign Language signing and electronic note taking will be included as usual to assist those who are deaf or hard of hearing. On Saturday morning a community breakfast will be served in the large hall of the church from 10am to 12 noon. Motherwell Photographic Society Douglas Harris, from Bearsden and Milngavie Camera Club, presented the Scottish Circle’s print portfolio at the society’s meeting last week. To make it easier to transport, this year it was displayed as a digital image format. Douglas gave a descriptive commentary on each image as it was displayed. At the end of the presentation the members discussed the quality of the images with some people of the opinion that the standard was not as high as that of previous years. Douglas was warmly thanked for his attendance and his informative presentation. At this next week’s meeting on Thursday, Elspeth Fear from Strathaven Camera Club, will be judging the final print competition. The competition will be held on April 12, with the trophy being awarded at the society’s end of season social evening.
