A free movie night will take place on the Friday evening at 7pm, to which siblings, parents, carers and grandparen­ts of the youngsters taking part in this year’s holiday club are invited to come along. A special service is being held in the church on Sunday, April 15, following the conclusion of the holiday club week when the children will be taking part to which all are welcome to attend. Cambusneth­an Club Entertainm­ent begins with social dancing in the concert hall plus cash bingo on Thursdays; cabaret and dancing with Lee Scott plus bingo on Friday; Saturday cabaret and dancing in the concert hall with top duo, Revelation­s, and female vocalist Vikki Grant. Bingo, snowball of £150 and treasure chest. Bonkle Parish Church Holy week services begin this week with a Maundy Thursday and communion service at 7pm in Coltness Memorial church tomorrow; the Good Friday service is being held in Bonkle church on Friday and will be led by members of the Kirk Session. The Passion Play will be presented in Hamilton town centre near Asda’s Hamilton’s Palace Grounds superstore at 2pm this Saturday. A movie depicting the Easter story will be shown at 7pm that evening in Coltness Memorial church, with Easter communion service, Sunday school and creche taking place at 12 noon in Bonkle church on Sunday. Speak to the minister if you know of anyone who may require a pastoral visit. Charity shop at Manse Road, Newmains is open Monday to Thursday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Arts and crafts group meets in Bonkle church hall at 7pm on Tuesdays, and new members will be made welcome and this year’s arts and crafts show is due to take place on June 10. Oasis Group meets at 6.30pm in the small hall of Coltness Memorial church on Tuesday evenings. Food bank thanks everyone for their continued support and is open in the village on Wednesdays at 1pm. Men’s and ladies club gathers in the church hall every Wednesday evening at 7pm. Thursday Club meets at 2pm in the church hall on Thursday afternoons and choir practise is held at 8pm that evening in Coltness Memorial church. Overtown Parish Church services in the church during Holy week are as follows: Maundy Thursday communion service at 7.30pm in the large church hall tomorrow; Good Friday Labyrinth service between 6.30pm and 8.30pm; an early morning service in the manse gardens at 7am on Easter Sunday, followed by breakfast in the church hall and culminatin­g at 11am with an Easter family communion service. Sewing bee will resume on Monday, April 9, at 7pm in the small church hall. All types of arts and crafts are undertaken and expert help is on hand if it is required. Everyone is welcome to come along and give it a try. Women’s group hosted a film night at their meeting last week. This was an open night event and a great attendance of ladies from the local community enjoyed the great, fun comedy programme. Their next meeting will be the annual summer outing on Saturday, May 5, to Antartex Village, Alexandria; further details on this event will available nearer the time.

Community cafe is open for business as usual on Thursdays between 11.30am and 1.30pm in Gowkthrapp­le Community Centre. The cafe serves tasty and affordable snack lunches and a place to enjoy a chat. There is also a take away menu available. Club Sun Fun Day The club next meets on Sunday, April 29, in the community centre between 1pm and 2pm. All primary school aged children will be made most welcome. At the club the kids listen to Bible stories, draw, paint, make things and enjoy a snack lunch together.
