A first offender was fined after he admitted threatening behaviour towards a woman in Motherwell.

Allan Keay appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week and pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening manner likely to cause fear and alarm at an address in Range Road on March 10.

Keay, of Stewart Crescent, Newmains, shouted, swore and made offensive remarks towards the woman before gesturing towards her and repeatedly punching a bed in the home.

Sheriff Vincent Smith decided to deal with Keay’s case by way of a fine with the 36-year-old forced to fork out £400 as a result of his actions.

This was reduced from £600 on account of Keay’s early guilty plea.
