Wishaw Press readers were quick to voice their displeasure at the number of potholes on local roads.

As our exclusive figures showed, the council had to deal with over 8,500 potholes which were reported to the local authority over the past three years.

However, the council received little sympathy from our readers who called on more money to be made available to fix the roads network. “Potholes? More like sinkholes! “The roads are a disgrace! Most of the main and side roads have been damaged by the bad weather so it’s hard to name the main ones.”

nominated Laurel Drive in Craigneuk as one road that should be fixed. She said: “Laurel Drive is a nightmare. The holes in the centre are semi-fixed but not the edge of the road.

“I swear it gets worse every day. The only reason I can stand them is, it slows drivers down when trying to beat the traffic on the main road.
