Accused of assault on man in flat
A man has appeared in court accused of attacking his alleged victim in a tower block flat.
Gary Grant appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and denied both charges against him.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in a flat in Glen Tower, Motherwell, on March 17 last year.
Grant is accused of assaulting a man by repeatedly punching him on the head.
The 29-year-old also pleaded not guilty to damaging property at the flat by throwing a plate at a living room window.
It is alleged that Grant committed the offences while he was released on bail.
Despite his solicitor’s best efforts, Sheriff Vincent Smith decided to refuse Grant, of Woodburn Road, Dalkeith, bail. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on April 16.
Grant is due to stand trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court on April 23.
