Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church there will be two services of worship at the church on Sunday. The morning service is at 11am with evening service at 6.30pm, when communion will be celebrated. The service is available to watch live via the church website at dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk and for catch-up later on You Tube. British Sign Language signing and electronic note taking to assist those who are deaf or hard of hearing is provided at this service. Befriend Motherwell are hosting its second Musical Memories event tomorrow at 1pm until 3pm. It is open to all with a warm welcome to those with dementia and their carers. Refreshmen­ts will be served with no charge made for attendance. The prayer group meets on June 6 at 1pm, with the sisterhood also meeting at 2pm that day for their monthly get-together. The joint guild summer rally will be held in Motherwell South Parish Church at 7.30pm on June 7. Special events will be taking place to mark the Year of Young People, on June 9. The National Weekend of Invitation takes place around the country from June 15-17, with additional special events planned. No charge will be made for attendance at the quiz and curry night being held on June 15, from 6.30pm. All ages welcome, and on the Saturday, from 2pm until 4pm, an invitation is extended to all to come along for afternoon tea. Again no charge will be made for this event. Saturday events will finish with a free family film night that day, featuring Ferdinand at 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Lots of refreshmen­ts available. Bring your own bean bags with everything all else supplied. All welcome including visitors, at the morning worship service on June 17. The next messy church event will be held on June 24, starting at 3.30pm and concluding with a barbecue, weather permitting at 5pm. It is focused on young families with lots of fun and crafts and games plus refreshmen­ts, with no charge made for attendance. Please register on the church website if you intend to come along to this event. Lanarkshir­e Carers Centre Board of directors are holding an extraordin­ary general meeting on June 25, at 11.45am. The meeting will take place in Motherwell United Services, Mabel Street, Motherwell and will close at 12.30pm, with refreshmen­ts and a light lunch. Any carers from the Wishaw, Newmains and Shotts areas, who wish to attend the EGM, should contact Lanarkshir­e Carers Centre Ltd to book a place by June 14 at the latest. Rotary Club Last week saw the president’s dinner in the Bentley Hotel, Motherwell, to witness the presentati­on of the Citizen of the Year and Young Achiever awards. The Rev Hasley Moore, formerly minister at Wishaw Old Parish Church and past member of the Motherwell and Wishaw Rotary Club, read the citation for the Citizen of the Year Award winner Tom Donaldson. Tom, who was the Rev Moore’s session clerk at Wishaw Old Church received the award primarily for his involvemen­t of 55 years with St Andrew’s First Aid, which was formerly the St Andrew’s Ambulance Associatio­n. Tom has been involved in many of the major events over the last five decades including the Commonweal­th Games, football internatio­nals and in January 1971, he witnessed at first hand the horrors of the Ibrox football disaster. In recent times Tom has helped train over 2500 first aiders in the Lanarkshir­e area. The Young Achiever Award citation was read out by Joy Gillespie, who is a manager at the Windmills Cafe in Brandon Parade East, Motherwell which is committed to investing in young people with learning difficulti­es.
