Calderhead High School parent council meet on the first Thursday of every month at 6pm in the school. If you are a parent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and observe on of their meetings. The parent council also have a Twitter account “@Calderhead­PC” and the minutes of meetings can be found on the school’s website. Shotts and District Rotary Club have their meetings every Wednesday evening in the Station Hotel, Shotts. EU Congregati­onal Church is open for prayer and reflection today, from 11am with a short service at 11.30am until noon. This is followed by soup, tea and a chat in the large hall of the church from 12pm to 1pm. Ladies fellowship is on each Friday at 10.30am. On Sunday, the morning service is at 11.30am and the evening service is at 6.30pm, with singing group on Tuesdays at 7pm. Shotts Salvation Army Corps the friendship club meets on Tuesdays, from 1pm to 3pm. On Wednesday, the youth club gathers at 6pm to 8pm. The toddlers’ group is on Thursday mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am, and prayer meetings are held on Thursday evenings at 7pm. Friday Club and JAM Club take place from 5.45pm to 7.45pm. The Sunday morning meeting is at 10.45am, led by Lieutenant Amy-Jo Battersby. There is a book sale today, featuring a range of other stalls, from 2pm to 4pm and at 6pm to 8pm. Bon Accord Club The club are taking new bookings, so please get in touch if you would like to hold an event there. The function hall is available to hire for events and weddings. The Crown and Tiara dance, in celebratio­n of the Queen’s coronation sapphire jubilee takes place on Saturday, June 2, with dancing to Gee Jay Wilson. On Sunday, June 3, the annual divine service is at Shotts Congregati­onal Church. Assemble at 5.45pm to move off at 6pm. Tickets are on sale for the Demonstrat­ion 2018 fundraiser with Bobby Parks and Prince of Wales Accordion Band on Saturday, June 23. Lodge St John 471 The regular meetings of the lodge are now in recess and will resume later in the year. Community council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings. Mondays from 6pm to 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tuesdays from 10.30am to noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds, at 6pm to 7.30pm. On Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and upwards. Additional classes can be scheduled based on demand. Wednesday, June 6, sees the ladies club rinks at 1pm. Thursday, June 7, sees the seniors’ friendship day at 11am, sponsored by Jim and Mary Roy. Saturday, June 9, sees Bowls Scotland Scottish ladies game at 10am. Senior scores for the league triples were: week one, Shotts vs Newmains with 23-6; week two, Shotts vs Castlehill 19-4; week three, Shotts vs Hamilton Cal 17-9; week four, Shotts vs Orbiston 15-9. The team were G Salmond, B Williams and R Shearer Jnr. Goldie cup winners were: J Duncan, A Gilfillan and M Love and Promiscuou­s winners were: C Wallace, D Hilditch and S Gardner. There is dancing to Harvest at 8.30pm on Saturday and bingo at 9.30pm. Please not there is a change to the advertised band on July 21, with Jackie Clark now performing instead of Gee Jay Wilson. Dates to look out for include Scott Lee on August 11 and October 13, with Gee Jay Wilson on September 8. Normal door fees of £1.50 will apply for these acts. Orders are now being taken for Kukri Shirts and a sheet can be found in the clubhouse for anyone interested to append their names and relevant sizes. The cost is £16.50 plus VAT, which should be paid to Pat Watters, the club treasurer. Closing date for orders will be May 31. Calderhead Erskine Parish Church The usual Sunday worship times at both Shotts and Allanton churches are 11am and 12.30pm respective­ly. The kirk session has appointed Rev Iain Murdoch to act as locum minister for Calderhead Erskine Parish Church of Scotland. If anyone in the congregati­on or parish wishes the help of a minister or a listening ear, contact Iain at 01555 773891; 07887 595498 or email iaincmurdo­ch@btopenworl­d.com. Please also let him know of anyone who is sick at home or in hospital and in need of pastoral care. Marble Club bingo is held in the lounge on Sundays at 1.30pm, and on Mondays and Thursdays in the main hall at 9pm. The club is available for all types of functions. Tenants’ and residents’ associatio­n will hold their annual general meeting on Tuesday, June 5 at 7.30pm in Springhill Community Hall, Shotts, where all members of the community will be made welcome. The associatio­n meets on the first Tuesday of each month (with the exception of the months of January and July) at 7.30pm in Springhill community hall. Allanton Parish Church morning worship, Discovery club and creche will be held during in the service at 12.30pm this Sunday.

Hamilton Park Racecourse competitio­n Allanton

Mother and toddlers’ group meets at 9.30am in Allanton Church hall on Tuesdays, with the guild meeting that afternoon at 2pm. All will me made welcome to come along and join the ladies. Street dance classes are held on Thursdays in the church hall at 6pm to 7pm and from 7pm to 8pm. Youth group meets in the senior citizen centre on Fridays, from 7pm to 9pm. Miners’ Social Club Entertainm­ent for members and friends begins with a double session of bingo followed by play your cards right on Thursday night; a guest country band will be performing in the club on Saturday, and Sunday night sees dancing to Bill McFarlane. The fabulous Susanne Scott will be starring in the lounge on Saturday, June 2; entry costs £3. Spirituali­st psychic and medium, Craig Leckie and friends, will be performing his show on July 20; tickets are £10. Private readings will also be available on the night at extra cost. Anyone requesting tickets should contact Karen or Davie as names are now being taken due to limited tickets from this show.
