Brogan back in dugout
Former Wishaw Juniors boss John Brogan is back in the dugout – as the new manager of Albion Rovers.
Brogan, who left Wishaw in February by mutual consent over a dispute about training, succeeded Brian Kerr in the Cliftonhill hotseat following the club’s relegation to the fourth tier.
Brogan, an ex-Albion Rovers player, last managed in the senior ranks in 1996 with Arbroath. However, he said: “I’m delighted to be back at the club and be back to my roots.
“With the relegation and the new budget, we expect to lose a few players.
“So it’s definitely a rebuild, it’s my job now to get the club up for the new season.
“I’ve spoken to players to ask them to come on board.
“They are of a good standard and will give the team some pace and energy.
“That’s not a knock about last season, but I think we will have something different to offer next season.”
Former Hamilton Accies and St Johnstone striker Brogan joined Wishaw Juniors in August last year, replacing Chris McGroarty, with his assistants Colin Mitchell and Scott Gemmell.
He left the club with the Beltane Park side sitting sixth in Central Division One, with several games in hand on sides above them, and also guided them into the fifth round of the Scottish Junior Cup.
