The new Allan Dearie Trophy for best caber throw went to Neil Elliott and Kyle Randalls won the Noon Family Trophy for best heavy athlete for the second year.

The President’s Trophy for best local athlete was won by Paul Dearie.

Visitors from Australia, America, Germany and Canada received certificates signed by the Chieftain to commemorate their visit.

A lament was played in tribute to Allan Dearie, a long-time supporter of the Games who died last year.

Robert Williams, chairman of Shotts Highland Games Association said: “The Games were a great success and our association are grateful to all our sponsors and to the Shotts community who turn out in great numbers to show support.

“We are grateful to North Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Leisure who give so much assistance on the day and in the run-up to the Games, to Shotts Bon Accord for the use of Hannah Park, to St Patrick’s Opera Group who run the beer tent and man the gates and to everyone who gives help on the day.

“We only have eight committee members working to organise the Games and the success is a tribute to their full commitment throughout the year, making sure that everything is in place for the day’s events. It’s this dedication which is at the heart of the success of the Games.”
