Calder­head High School par­ent coun­cil meets on the first Thurs­day of ev­ery month at 6pm in the school. If you are a par­ent or guardian of a pupil, you can come along and ob­serve one of the group’s meet­ings. The par­ent coun­cil also have a Twit­ter ac­count “@Calder­headPC” and the min­utes of meet­ings can be found on the school’s web­site. Shotts and District Ro­tary Club have their meet­ings ev­ery Wed­nes­day evening in the Sta­tion Ho­tel, Shotts. EU Con­gre­ga­tional Church is open for prayer and re­flec­tion on Wed­nes­days, from 11am with a short ser­vice at 11.30am un­til 12pm. This is fol­lowed by soup, tea and a chat which is served in the large hall of the church from 12pm to 1pm. On Sun­day, the morn­ing ser­vice is at 11.30am and singing group meets on Tues­days at 7pm. Sal­va­tion Army Corps the friend­ship club meets on Tues­days, from 1pm to 3pm. On Wed­nes­day, the youth club gath­ers at 6pm to 8pm. The tod­dlers’ group is held on Thurs­day morn­ings from 9.30am to 11.30am. Prayer meet­ings take place on Thurs­day evenings at 7pm. Fri­day Club and JAM Club take place from 5.45pm to 7.45pm. The Sun­day morn­ing meet­ing is at 10.45am and is led each week by Lieu­tenant Amy-Jo Bat­tersby. Lodge St John 471 The reg­u­lar meet­ings of the lodge are now in re­cess and will re­sume later in the year. Com­mu­nity coun­cil meets on the first Mon­day of the month in the Com­mu­nity Cen­tre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Mem­bers of the pub­lic are wel­come to at­tend these meet­ings. Mon­days from 6pm to 7.30pm is for ages eight to 11, Tues­days from 10.30am to noon is for adults, with a class for four to seven-year-olds at 6pm to 7.30pm. On Wed­nes­days from 6pm to 7.30pm, there is a class for ages 12 and up­wards. Ad­di­tional classes can be sched­uled based on de­mand. Iron­works Bowl­ing Club the next com­pe­ti­tion’s be­ing played at the club will be the ladies club rinks game at 1pm to­day. Fol­lowed that evening by the Mother­well and Wishaw District League game be­tween Shotts Iron­works and Mother­well Min­ers’ at 6.30pm. The se­niors’ friend­ship day takes place to­mor­row at 11am and is be­ing spon­sored by Mary and Jim Roy. Satur­day sees the Bowls Scot­land Scot­tish ladies game at 10am, with the Bowls Scot­land men’s district fi­nal at 6.30pm on Fri­day, June 15. There will be bingo and danc­ing to Har­vest on Satur­day, with danc­ing to Sat­is­fac­tion the fol­low­ing week. Look out for the fol­low­ing acts which will be com­ing soon: Jackie Clarke on July 21, Lee Scott on Au­gust 11 and Oc­to­ber 13, and Gee Jay Wil­son on Septem­ber 8.

Al­lan­ton

Al­lan­ton Par­ish Church ser­vice on Sun­day will take place in the church at the usual time of 12.30pm. Mother and tod­dlers’ group meets in the church hall on Tues­days at 9.30am, with the guild gather for their meet­ing at 2pm. All lo­cal ladies in the com­mu­nity will be made wel­come to come along and join this friendly and wel­com­ing group. Street dance classes take place in the church hall on Thurs­days at 6pm to 7pm and from 7pm to 8pm. Youth group meets in the se­nior cit­i­zens’ cen­tre on Fri­days from 7pm to 9pm. Wil­liam Colquhoun LOL 152 will hold their reg­u­lar monthly meet­ing this Thurs­day, June 7, at 7pm in the se­nior cit­i­zens’ cen­tre. Mem­bers are re­quested to bring along their district prize draw books and any mem­bers who would like to book a meal at the forth­com­ing demon­stra­tion, should give their names to the sec­re­tary, Brother David Ar­mit on the night. The Wor­ship­ful Master, Brother W Clel­land, re­quests all mem­bers of the lodge to at­tend this meet­ing.
