Kids get sporty at Wishaw base

Wishaw Press - - SCHOOL NEWS -

Thornlie Primary pupils got sporty when they recently took part in coaching sessions and a tournament organised by students from New College Lanarkshire.

They had three weeks of training before taking part in a football, rugby and handball tournament at Wishaw Sports Centre.

Kimberley Totten, one of the student coaches, believes the project was a great success.

She said: “The tournament went great. The aim of the project was to allow the kids a deeper insight of sports that aren’t as common in PE classes.

“It was a fantastic day and a complete success and the kids loved it.

“We had sponsors including Chunky Monkeys from Shotts who provided us with water and Sainsbury’s who provided us with fruit for all the kids.

“We would also like to thank Wishaw Sports Centre for allowing us to use their pitch free of charge.”
