The 21st edition of the Wishaw v Wishaw golf event saw the Scots team beaten by their English counterparts. The competition, which started in 1997 to mark the centenary of the Scottish Wishaw Golf Club, sees Wishaw take on Warwickshire Wishaw every year. The Scots took a 12-strong team across the border hoping to retain the trophy they won last year on home turf. Wishaw GC member Craig Dalziel said:“The weekend was fantastic and the hospitality immense. Weather wise on both days it was roasting hot and we stayed dry, just. “On the Sunday just as we completed the match thunder and lightening struck and stayed on for about six hours. “The result wasn’t so good for Wishaw Scotland as we were beaten 7.5 to 4.5 over the 12 matches. However, we did manage to win at the Skittles which replaced the dance, on the Saturday night. “Wishaw England have already booked a hotel here for next year’s event.”
