Lifting medals and records
Motherwell lads and training partners Callum Crozier and Jonathon Lenzi made Great Britain proud in the IPF World Bench Press Championships in Finland. Callum represented GB last year in Texas with a 192.5kg Bench Press at just 21. This year he smashed his best throwing up 207.5kg to take the Bronze medal in the Junior 105kg category. In doing so he also took the Scottish senior and British Junior Bench Press records. He will now go on to represent the team for the full power World Classic Championships in Canada. There he can show what he has in store for bench, squat and deadlift records. Jonathon is no stranger to the power-lifting world either having brought home the gold as well as a best junior lifter award at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships held in South Africa last year. This year Jonathon debuted on the World Stage in the 93kg category, benching a Scottish record of 170kg. This was despite having just recovered from an injury, showing he perhaps has potential to do much more in sport. Jonathon plans to push himself even further with hopes of competing in the European Championships in France this September. Both returned home proud as ever having poured up to three hours of training in the gym most evenings while keeping up full time work.
