Coltness Memorial Church’s annual arts and crafts exhibition opens today and runs until Saturday, in aid of Alzheimer Scotland. Opening times are 10am to 9pm from today until Friday, and on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm. Tea and coffee bar will be available with home baking. A special cup cake day will take place in the church on Thursday, prior to the Alzheimer Society’s national Cup Cake day on Friday. Struthers Pentecostal Church Weekly meetings are held on Wednesdays at 7.30pm in the Old Gospel Hall in Bonkle Road. Newmains and district community council are holding their annual general meeting tonight in the NCT Centre, Newmains at 7pm. The committee invite residents to come along to this meeting, get involved and find out more about their work and social activities in the community and help to make the village a better place to live and work. Bonkle Parish Church service, Sunday school and creche is at the usual time of noon on Sunday. Speak to the minister if you know of anyone requiring a pastoral visit. Computer club meets at 10am and 1pm in Bonkle Church hall on Mondays, with badminton in the large hall of the church that night at 7.30pm. All welcome. Oasis group gathers in the small of Coltness Memorial Church at 6.30pm on Tuesdays, and new members will be made welcome. Food bank thanks everyone for their continued support and is open in the village on Wednesdays at 1pm. This week the group are looking for donations of tea and coffee, pasta and rice, spaghetti and noodles, soups, tinned fruit and vegetables, biscuits, and tinned meat and fish. Arts and crafts exhibition will run in the village from now until Sunday. Featured crafts including paintings, needlecraft, photography, woodwork and more will be on sale; proceeds go to Alzheimer Scotland.
