Three take gold medals at Scot­tish Schools

Law and District AAC athletes picked up four gold medals at the Scot­tish Schools track and field cham­pi­onships.

A num­ber of athletes won medals at the tough com­pe­ti­tion in Grange­mouth.

All four gold medals came from Car­luke High School pupils. Dawn Russell ( Law Vil­lage) won gold in both the Un­der-14 ham­mer and javelin, while Shan­non Gough (Law Vil­lage) won gold in the U15 dis­cus and came fourth in the shot putt

James Gil­lon ( Car­luke) won gold in the O17 2km steeple­chase, bronze in the 1500m and fourth in the 800m.

Calvin Simp­son from Big­gar High School was 5th in the U14 shot putt and Katie Foss was fifth in the Un­der-17 300m.

Also com­pet­ing were U15 Luc y McCor­mack ( Les­ma­hagow High) in the 100m and hur­dles, Un­der-17 Rachel Donnelly (Mother­well) in the 300m hur­dles and Un­der- 14 Mia Wal­dron (Mother­well) in the javelin.

At Un­der-15 Don­ald Gilchrist ( La­nark Gram­mar) came sev­enth in the 800m fi­nal.

Jessie Gilchrist ( La­nark Gram­mar) com­peted in the 800m.

At Un­der- 17 level May Venerus ( Big­gar High) com­peted in the 100m, Ash­leigh Farr ( Les­ma­hagow HS) in the 100m and 200m and Rachel Hunter (Car­luke HS) in the 100m and 200m.
