The new homes in Shotts have also been supported by the town’s politicians and community groups.
Shotts Community Council chairman Joe Duffy was pleased the new homes were set to be constructed.
“Shotts Community Council were happy to support this planning application and are delighted with the decision of the planning committee,” said Joe.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported this application.”
Shotts Tenants and Residents Association chairperson Margaret Murphy hopes to see more investment in the town.
She said: “This is a new chapter for the Springhill area and Shotts overall.
“We need more new investment in the area and hopefully other developments will follow from this.”
Shotts MSP Alex Neil and MP Neil Gray were also supporters of the planning application.
Mr Neil said: “This is a massive and welcome boost for Shotts.
“The new houses will go a long way to reducing housing waiting lists in the town.
“The investment in building these new houses will be a huge opportunity to create new jobs and training opportunities, especially for the young people of Shotts.
“Well done to everybody involved.”
Mr Gray added: “I am very pleased to see these new houses for the communities in Harthill and Shotts.
“It is long overdue investment in the area and should be the start of seeing proper support for these communities.”
