My anorexia hell at hands of docs

Dianne tells of 10-month fight

Wishaw Press - - FRONT PAGE - Ross Thomson

A Wishaw woman has told how she literally begged doctors to help her as anorexia took hold of her life.

Dianne Docherty was on her hands and knees pleading with the medics and was eventually diagnosed with the eating disorder after a 10-month ordeal which saw her weight drop to just four and a half stone. Previously she had tipped the scales at 39 stone before she had a gastric band fitted.

Mum-of-two Dianne believes if it wasn’t for her dietician she wouldn’t be alive today after doctors discharged her from University Hospital Wishaw.

She said: “I was on my knees in the hospital begging them for help but they sent me home.

“My family thought I had discharged myself and they were accusing me of not wanting to get better – it was awful.

“If it wasn’t for my dietician I would have come out of hospital and died.”
