Over­town Par­ish Church morn­ing ser­vice on Sun­day is at 11am. There will be a creche for younger chil­dren if re­quired. All vis­i­tors to the church will be made most wel­come. Lunch club will con­tinue through the sum­mer hol­i­day sea­son each Mon­day af­ter­noon in the small church hall of Over­town church, from noon un­til 1.30pm. Two-course meals are served for the bar­gain price of £4. Hot or cold filled rolls with tea, cof­fee or juice fol­lowed by dessert will also be on of­fer, and a take­away ser­vice is avail­able if re­quired. Ev­ery­one will be made most wel­come. Line danc­ing classes con­tinue in the main hall of the church each Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon, start­ing with a be­gin­ners’ and re­fresh­ers’ class from 12.30pm. This is fol­lowed by the main class at 1.15pm un­til 2.45pm. All ages and abil­i­ties will be made very wel­come. Sum­mer school club Over­town Par­ish Church is once again run­ning its sum­mer hol­i­day club dur­ing the school hol­i­days for all pri­mary age chil­dren, start­ing in pri­mary one af­ter the hol­i­days, up to and in­clud­ing those who have com­pleted pri­mary seven. It is be­ing held in the church halls from Tues­day, July 31 un­til Fri­day, Au­gust 3; and will be on each day from 10am un­til noon. This year’s theme is Jun­gle Jam­boree, and the chil­dren will par­tic­i­pate in games, crafts, group work and fun, based on some of the most known Bi­ble sto­ries, but with a jun­gle twist. On the Fri­day evening, there will be a bar­be­cue for the chil­dren and their fam­i­lies in the manse grounds (weather per­mit­ting), and on the Sun­day, Au­gust 5, a spe­cial ser­vice will take place in the church at 11am. All par­tic­i­pants and their fam­i­lies are cor­dially in­vited to at­tend the ser­vice. Par­ents can reg­is­ter their chil­dren for a place at the club by con­tact­ing Su­san Forbes, whose de­tails are listed be­low. Al­ter­na­tively, they can come along on the Tues­day morn­ing prior to the start of the club and reg­is­ter at the door on the day. En­try is com­pletely free and any in­for­ma­tion pro­vided on the con­sent forms will be treated in the strictest con­fi­dence. Over­town Church’s so­cial and fundrais­ing com­mit­tee are hold­ing a vin­tage af­ter­noon tea in the church hall on Satur­day, July 28. It will be­gin at 1pm un­til 3pm; tick­ets will cost £5 and these can be paid to any mem­ber of the fundrais­ing com­mit­tee or are payable at the door on the day. All are wel­come to come along and en­joy this nov­elty event with a serv­ing of good old fash­ioned hos­pi­tal­ity.

Gowk­thrap­ple

Gowk­thrap­ple com­mu­nity cafe is open for busi­ness on Thurs­days, be­tween 11.30am and 1.30pm in Gowk­thrap­ple Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. It serves tasty and af­ford­able snack lunches and a place to en­joy a chat; there is also a take away menu avail­able.
