New signs on the mark

-

New street signs have been installed in Motherwell after concerns were raised about the damaged poles.

North Lanarkshire Council have provided fresh street signage in the North Lodge area after concerns were raised by Scottish Conservative and Unionist Councillor Nathanwilson.

When visiting the area over the summer months, Councillorwilson, above, noticed that the piece of signage at the entrance to Catherine Street had rotted and decayed to such an extent that it was difficult to make out what the sign actually said.

He also noticed that a lighting column containing a piece of signage welcoming people to Camp Road had become detached from its fixed position and was now lying on the ground.

Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig Councillorwilson said:‘‘i reported matters to the relevant officers at the council who very quickly issued a work instruction for new signs to be provided on site.

“I am pleased that the new signs are now in place.”

New signs are now in place at both Catherine Street and Camp Road. An additional sign has also been attached to a lamppost at North Lodge Avenue.

The new signage at Camp Road is located on the opposite side of the pavement to the previous one because it was determined that it would be more visible from this location.
