It’s plastic FANTASTIC

-

With the help of the community, Morningside Primary now have a new and improved playground.

Teachers, pupils, parents and family and friends mucked together to create the perfect space for outdoor learning for the students last weekend.

Cable drums, pallets, logs and tyres were upcycled into useful tools to help improve the kids learning experiences.

The frame from the old plastic bottle greenhouse was also revamped and turned into a sensory hut.

Parents and staff worked hard to repair and paint broken benches.

The school were working towards achieving their Eco School Action Plan on Biodiversity, by making bug hotels to give the mini-beasts in the school garden a home.

They have had a very successful first summer with their new greenhouse, which helped them grow peppers, chillies, cucumbers and an endless supply of tomatoes.

Eco committee teacher, Rebecca Jones said: “Big thanks to all the parents and staff who donated resources to use on the day. Especially to one of our parents Murray Webster, owner of Webster Power Products, who sourced all the paint and varnish needed and provided power tools for use on the day.

“Also a big thank you to Tesco in Wishaw who donated hotdogs as a well-deserved snack and as a reward for everyone’s hard work.”
