Triple bill of talent at new Rutherglen gig

- Jonathan Geddes

Lanarkshire’s newest entertainment venue is set to hold another gig night at the start of November.

And three is the magic number for organisers at the No 18 venue, as they’ve booked a trio of acts to perform at the show.

The gig nights have been set up by community radio station Camglen Radio, and after a successful launch at the end of August the next show’s line-up has been unveiled, featuring singer/songwriter Rebekah Kirk, from Cambuslang, fellow Cambuslang act Haze and Renfrewshire songstress Zoe Tait.

Live gigs are a natural next step for the station, who regularly features emerging acts in session on the station.

Station Coordinator Tam Curry said: “We want to bring regular live music events to Rutherglen, showcasing fantastic up and coming artist.

At each event our aim is to make sure that artists have a positive experience, are looked after and are properly paid – and of course putting on a great night for punters. We are very proud of our venue, Number 18 - with capacity limited to 100 people it is a very intimate and cosy venue, with a high end sound system to make it the best music experience possible.”

Rebekah Kirk is a multi-award winning singer/songwriter who has been honoured with prizes like titles‘best Busker in Glasgow’, ‘Danny Kyle Award Winner’, and ‘Jim Diamond Award Winner’ amongst others.

Haze, aka Hannah Findlay, is fresh from performing at the Merchant City Festival and playing at gigs in Provence and Marseille in France after winning the Eurogig Scotland competition earlier this year.

Zoe Tait is a young Singer/songwriter from Renfrewshire who is well known at Camglen Radio and has been making a name for herself gigging across the Central belt of Scotland. She is soon set to tour Germany. Another gig is already planned for December, and organisers are hoping the shows could become a monthly event.

The gig will take place on Friday, November 2 and tickets are available on Eventbrite for £5 and a booking fee.

There will be a limited number available on the night for £7. Doors open at 7.30pm. Entry to the event is strictly 18+ and there will be a licenced bar selling alcohol and non

alcoholic beverages.
